Privacy at NovaTech

Clear choices, minimal data.

This policy describes the student demonstration as it works today—not a future commercial store.

1. About this website

NovaTech is an academic e-commerce demonstration. It does not create accounts, ship real orders, or operate a customer database. Checkout uses PayPal’s sandbox (test) environment, so no real money is charged.

2. Information you enter

The newsletter field demonstrates form validation, but the email address is not transmitted or stored. At checkout, payment details are entered on PayPal’s secure window, never on NovaTech. NovaTech receives only the PayPal order ID, transaction ID, payment status, and the buyer’s first name to display on the confirmation page.

3. Browser storage

When you add an item to the cart, the product and quantity are stored in your browser’s local storage under the key novatech_cart. This keeps the cart available as you move between pages. After a payment, the order confirmation is kept in session storage under novatech_last_order and disappears when the tab is closed. The NovaTech team cannot access these local copies.

4. Cookies and tracking

The site does not set advertising cookies, use analytics trackers, or build visitor profiles. It does not load third-party fonts or product images. The only third-party script is PayPal’s checkout SDK, which loads on the checkout page and is governed by PayPal’s privacy statement. Footer share links open X, Facebook, Reddit, or WhatsApp only when you click them.

5. Hosting information

The public site may be hosted by GitHub Pages. Like most web hosts, GitHub may process standard technical request information needed to deliver and secure the website. That processing is governed by GitHub’s own privacy practices.

6. How to control your data

Use the “Clear saved cart” button on this page to remove NovaTech’s local storage entry. You can also clear site data through your browser settings. Removing it resets the cart badge and order summary.

7. Data security

The site is served over HTTPS, and NovaTech never handles card numbers or passwords because payments are processed by PayPal. If the site becomes a real store, secure payment processing, access controls, retention limits, consent management, and a revised policy would be required before launch.

8. Children’s privacy

This demonstration is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Policy changes

If the site’s features or data practices change, this page should be updated at the same time. The revision date above shows when this policy was last reviewed.
